MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The Davenport women's golf team competed for the first time this spring as they traveled to the Limestone Lowtide Intercollegiate. The three-round tournament hosted at Dunes West Golf and River Club concluded on Tuesday and Davenport tied for seventh place out of 14 schools with a team score of 950. The team played 36 holes on Monday and finished with 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Panthers opened up with a 319 in the morning session on Monday and then improved six strokes in the afternoon. On Tuesday, the team shot 318 to tie with Lenoir-Rhyne. The host Limestone won the tournament with a score of 882 and are ranked No. 48 in NCAA Division II. North Georgia, ranked No. 7 nationally, finished in second place with a 887. The Panthers did better than No. 19 Coastal Georgia who finished 10th at 958.
Hannah Robinson had the team's best finish in a three-way tie for 21st place. Robinson carded a total of 233 and improved each round from an 83 in the morning session on Monday to a 74 on Tuesday. Hannah was able to climb nine spots on the leaderboard with that stellar final round of two-over par. She had three birdies in the final round all on par 4's.
ThaiLee Gerding finished in a three-way tie for 37th place with a 240. She went in the opposite direction with a one-over par 73 in the opening 18 holes and then an 82-85 to conclude the tournament.
Venetia Chap finished in a three-way tie for 42nd place with a score of 242. She had 79-79-84 and totaled four birdies during the tournament.
Lauren Gervais (84-79-80) and
Melissa Walker (84-79-80) finished in a four-way tie for 45th place with a score of 243.
Brooklynn Ringler and
Sydney McDill competed as individuals with Ringler shooting 267 (tie for 68th place) and McDill recording a 309 (72nd place).
