4x100 relay records broken at Al Owens Classic

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams were able to establish a few school records over the past two days at the GVSU Al Owens Classic. 

Both 4x100 relay teams set new school records. Julia Tuuri, Hanah Johnson, Jaiden Young, and Jayka Mack-Smith ran 47.33 and broke the record set last week at the DU Invitational. Ethan Scholten, Malcolm Earvin, Nikao Williams, and Ibrahim Fall ran 40.47 to brake the record from 2024 at the DU Panther Open. The time also hit the NCAA provisional mark.

The 4x400 women's relay consisting of Erin Boettcher, Tuuri, Lacy Hess, and Soleil Moore ran 3:50.20 to break the record of 3:51.52 set last season at the GLIAC Championships. Ella Baryo ran 10:43.14 and won the steeplechase to hit the NCAA provisional mark. She broke her own mark of 10:49.95 set two years ago at this same meet. Jordan Domany in the 5,000 meters won the event in a time of 14:39.38 and broke the mark of 14:53.60 set two years ago at this same event by Garrett Melling.

Ibrahim Fall placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 21.56. Nik Shilling won the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.80. Melling placed second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:27.44. Bryce Albrecht won the pole vault with a height of 15' 9.25". Nick Ruvalcaba placed second with a height of 15' 3.5". Brayden Green finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 23' 1.75". Chandler Griffiths had the fourth-best shot put mark of all-time with a distance of 52' 8.25". The men's 4x400 relay of Fall, Lucas Van Meter, Tyler Guggemos, and Shilling had the second-best mark all-time at DU in 3:18.66.

Tuuri finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 12.05. Moore placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.66. Maria Da Cunha placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.02. Sidney Heugel placed second in the pole vault with a height of 11' 11.75". Jayla Procter was second in the shot put division 1 and had the fourth-best throw at DU (40' 4.25"). Hannah Fitzpatrick placed third in the javelin and had the fifth-best mark at DU (115' 7").
