LANSING, Mich. – The Davenport cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Lansing Invitational, highlighted by back-to-back individual wins from
Jordan Domany and a top-15 finish from
Alyssa Butterfield. The men's team claimed first place in the 8K race, while the women's squad secured sixth in the 5K.
For the men, Domany crossed the line first out of 113 runners with a time of 25:18.5, marking his second consecutive win after taking first at the Diemer Classic on Sept. 13. He was followed by a dominant pack of Panthers as Luke Oyster (3rd), Lucas Van Meter (4th), and Rogan Melling (5th) all placed inside the top five. Tyler Guggemos added a ninth-place finish, with Nikolas Shilling (16th) and Matthew Nowak (20th) rounding out an impressive showing that secured the team title.
On the women's side, Butterfield paced the Panthers with a 15th-place finish in 21:22.4, earning medalist honors. Cierra Guay followed close behind in 19th, while Adrianna Soria (30th), Adeline Nickels (50th), and Britta Johnson (61st) completed the scoring for Davenport, placing the team sixth overall in the field of 68 runners.
Head Coach Scott Cook praised the group's effort, saying, "I feel we raced better today than we did a week ago, we ran smart for the conditions and made some progress. It was fun to see the guys run well again, putting five in the top ten for the second week in a row.
Alyssa Butterfield was also a medalist finishing 15th overall."
