GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport men's volleyball team increased their season record to 8-0, defeating visiting Cornerstone University in a five-set thriller (22-25, 25-20, 28-26, 23-25, 15-13) on Wednesday evening at the DU Student Center.
Jackson Palmitier led the Panthers offensively with 20 kills and five aces.
James May added 16 kills and one ace, and Gavin Vandergraaf added 10 kills and one ace.
Tristan Whitman dished out 52 assists, finding the best hitting matchups through the match. After failing to record a block for the first two sets, the Panthers began to shut down the Golden Eagles offense in the later sets.
Logan Sowers led the team in blocks with five (one solo block and four block assists), and Whitman added four blocks of his own (two solo blocks and two block assists). The men's volleyball team plays next Wednesday, Jan. 28 when they host the Ferris State Bulldogs at 7:00 PM.
