GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After starting the season with an impressive 18-0 record, the Panthers suffered their first defeat of the season on Wednesday, Feb. 18. In a match of highly-ranked teams (MSU #1 in Division I and Davenport #4 in Division II), the Spartans won in three straight, highly competitive sets (26-24, 25-17, 25-21). The Panthers were led offensively by
James May's eight kills and
Jackson Palmitier's six kills. Also contributing to Davenport's effort were
Tristan Whitman with 21 assists and two blocks,
Logan Sowers with five kills and four blocks. Behind the serving line,
Robert Lowes, Whitman, and Palmitier all added one ace.
The men's volleyball team travels this weekend to Aurora, IL, to take part in the Midwest D2 Invite starting on Saturday, Feb. 21.
