GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Coming off a split weekend in its GLIAC home opener against Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State, the Davenport University softball team will continue conference play on the road. The Panthers travel across town for a rivalry matchup with Grand Valley State on Saturday, March 28, before heading to Purdue Northwest on Sunday, March 29.
Notable Moments from GLIAC Home Opening Weekend
- Sophomore transfer Chloe Parker delivered one of the weekend's biggest moments, launching a three-run walk-off home run in Game 1 against Wayne State to secure a 5–3 victory in the bottom of the seventh. Parker finished the weekend 4-for-6 at the plate with four RBIs, seven total bases, and an impressive 1.167 slugging percentage.
- Junior transfer Lexie McCarty followed with late-game heroics of her own in Game 2, ripping a walk-off double down the right field line to bring home two runs and lift Davenport to a 6–5 win. McCarty totaled four hits, three RBIs, and five total bases across the weekend.
- Sophomore Alaina Schwanke added consistent production, recording five hits—including a double—while driving in two runs and tallying six total bases.
- True freshman Chloe Bruman continued her strong start to the season, going 4-for-10 on the weekend and notching the first triple of her collegiate career.
- Graduate student Kailyne Luna provided veteran leadership at the plate, going 4-for-11 with three runs scored, a double, and three RBIs while leading the team with eight total bases in conference play. Luna also delivered a key two-run home run to tie Game 2 against Wayne State at 3–3 in the bottom of the third inning.
- In the circle, Hannah Tahaney has led the Panthers' pitching staff with a 3.41 ERA, 43 strikeouts, and a .282 opponent batting average. She has also been Davenport's go-to arm, logging a team-high 53.1 innings pitched.

Grand Valley State (10-12, 1-1)
- True freshman Camryn Hall has paced the Lakers offensively, going 29-for-69 at the plate while scoring 13 runs, adding a pair of doubles, 11 RBIs, and 30 total bases. She has also been a threat on the base paths, going 5-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
- Senior Elizabeth Wesoloski has also been a key contributor, batting 24-for-63 with 12 RBIs, six runs scored, a home run, and 29 total bases.
- In the circle, Allison Wright leads the Laker pitching staff with a 1.22 ERA across 23.0 innings pitched, holding opponents to just a .196 batting average. Sophomore Karli Dorr has logged a team-high 42.0 innings, posting a 2.00 ERA and a 3–2 record. Nevaeh Ingram ranks second on the team with 32.2 innings pitched and owns the second-lowest ERA at 1.93.
- In its most recent contests, Grand Valley State faced Wisconsin-Parkside, splitting the weekend with a 9–1 win in the opener before falling 2–0 in the second game.
Purdue Northwest (15-9, 1-1)
- The Pride have already surpassed their win total from the 2025 season, when they finished 14-32-1 overall. PNW is now looking to climb back above .500 after posting 30-plus wins in each of the 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons.
- True freshman Gracie Jensen has paced the Pride offensively, batting .406 with 23 RBI, 15 runs scored, and 41 total bases while striking out just five times in 69 at-bats.
- Junior Kylie Dugan has also put together an impressive 2026 campaign, batting .390 while starting all 24 games. She leads the team with 30 hits and 21 runs scored, has drawn 13 walks, and is 17-for-20 on stolen base attempts.
- In the circle, senior Hailie Charmat has been the anchor of the pitching staff with a 1.68 ERA and a 4-3 record. She has limited opponents to a .169 batting average while recording 43 strikeouts.
