Grand Rapids, Mich. - The men's lacrosse team made its first ever appearance in home uniforms Wednesday afternoon and they used the home field to their advantage by downing Hope College 17-8. The win lifts DU to 4-1 on the year as they will take on Saginaw Valley State on Saturday at MVP Sports Plex.
After dropping their first game of the season over a week ago to Mount St. Joe, the Panthers quickly rebounded and used a 4-0 run to open the game. The Dutchmen would come back strong but Davenport was very solid on the offensive end and also controlled the face-off and ground ball wars. Penalties continued to hurt the young Panthers squad as four of Hope's goals came via the power play.
The game with Saginaw Valley State will begin at 1:00 PM.
