Upset Special; Davenport Defeats #1 Westminster 12-10

ATHENS, Tenn. - After defeating two previously Top-25 ranked teams in their trip to Tennessee, the Men's Lacrosse team posted its biggest win in school history today as they downed #1 ranked Westminster 12-10. The win lifts Davenport to 4-0 on the year.

After defeating #11 SCAD and #15 Stonehill over the weekend, DU returned to the field today where they took on a defeated the defending MCLA D2 National Champions 12-10. Westminster came into the game ranked #1 in just about every poll that is associated with the MCLA as each team played very well.

Justin Scott got the start in net for the Panthers and played very solid as he finished with 17 saves and Jeremy Simms won 14 of 21 faceoffs to control the pace of play throughout the game.

Jordan Richtsmeier was awesome on offense for Davenport as he finished with 4 goals and 1 assist and was followed in scoring by Gavin Morris (3 goals), Shawn Beer (2g, 2a), Jeff Samuels (1g, 2 a), Jordan Costa (1a), Oliver Wade (1g) and Jordy Sayers (1g, 2 a).

One of the keys to the game was Davenport's ability to kill off the man up advantages for Westminster as the Panthers allowed only two of nine opportunities throughout the game.
