Box Score
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After getting a big win against Miami (OH) yesterday to open the Turf Field, Davenport scored 11 first half goals today in route to an easy 20-6 win over Northern Michigan. DU now stands at 7-0 on the year with the weekend sweep.
The Panthers dominated from the start to finish and although they allowed three Cougar goals in the second quarter, the DU offense was too much. Gavin Morris got the scoring going early for Davenport as he scored :37 into the game and Jordan Richtsmeier followed with three straight goals and Shawn Beer added another as the Panthers jumped to a fast 5-0 lead.
NMU did score the last goal of the first and the opening goal of the second to decrease the margin to just three, but DU was too tough in the second quarter as they added six goals (three from Richtsmeier, two from Beer and one from Jeff Samuels) to take full control of the game.
DU then put the game away as they outscored Northern Michigan 5-0 in the third as Morris added two more and Richtsmeier and Beer each added to their total. Freshman Taylor Keyworth got into the scoring as well as he would later add his second at the end of the game.
Zach Higgins played solid in net for the Panthers as he picked up his second win of the season by stopping 13 shots and giving up only six goals.
DU will host Saginaw Valley State next Saturday at 12:00 PM at the Turf Field.
