Box Score
LOWELL, Mich. - Davenport, fresh off a thrashing of Aquinas College on Thursday, got off to a strong start again today as they scored 9 of the game's first 10 goals in route to a 14-6 win over Ferrs State. The victory lifts DU to 10-2 on the year and they are now 3-0 in CCLA play.
After putting up a new school record 33 goals on Thursday in a win over Aquinas, Davenport opened tonight's 14-6 win with 9 of the first 10 goals. Shawn Beer got the scoring going at the 8:23 mark of the first and DU then added four more in the first quarter to lead 5-1 after one. Kyle Detmers, Dylan Gilbert and Jordan Richtsmeier scored the only three goals of the second quarter and DU led 8-1 at halftime.
The game then turned a little bit ugly in the second half as many penalties were called on both sides and the extra man opportunities got some added work. Davenport went 2/6 in the second half with one man up as Ferris State went 2/4.
DU was very dominant on faceoffs throughout the game as the Panthers won 15/24 and Davenport also controlled the ground balls as they won 41 compared to only 20 for the Bulldogs.
The win lifts DU into a showdown on Tuesday against rival Grand Valley State in Allendale at 5:00 PM.
