GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Adam Thomas and Clay Mattson each scored two goals on Friday night as they lifted DU to a convincing 6-0 shutout of Penn State. The Panthers have now won four in a row and sit at 16-9 on the year.

After not playing a game since December 12, the Panthers returned to the ice the same way they left it back before break as they cruised to a 6-0 win over the Nittany Lions of Penn State.

DU got on the board in the first period at the 11:06 when Clay Mattson (Livonia, Mich.) scored the first goal of his career at Davenport on assists from Phillip Tesoriero (Wallingford, Conn.) and Sean McWhorter (Lansing, Mich.).

After getting only one goal in the opening 20 minutes, DU put up two more in the second both off of the stick of Adam Thomas (Kentwood, Mich.) who inched closer to Marc Lira's all-time points record of 313 points.

The Panthers then struck two times early in the 3rd, one from Brit Ouellette (Windsor, Ontario) and a second from Mattson to take a commanding 5-0 lead which would turn into a 6-0 shutout after a late goal from Ben Dykstra (Kentwood, Mich.).

Scott Knight (Grand Rapids, Mich.) picked up the win in net as he now stands at 11-5 on the year posting his second shutout.

Davenport will take to the ice on Saturday in the second game against PSU with the puck dropping shortly after 7:00 PM from Patterson Ice Center.
