BUTTE, Mont. - The #2 ranked Lady Panthers posted their fifth consecutive win over an NAIA D1 opponent and fourth in a row over a team either ranked in Top-25 or receiving votes with an impressive 99-75 victory over host Montana Tech. DU is now 9-0 on the year and will begin WHAC play Wednesday at UM-Dearborn.
The Thanksgiving holiday came and went for the DU Lady Panthers, who used a strong second half to down Montana Tech 99-75 on Saturday night. Sophomore guard
Karli Harris (Fishers, Ind.) posted a team high 14 points as she led a group of nine different Lady Panthers to finish with at least 5 points.
Davenport raced out to a quick lead 20-13 and led by as many as 13 in the first half of play before the host Diggers closed the half down by only six at 45-39. After a blazing start from the field that saw DU hitting on 60% of their shots, the points then were to hard to come by and the Lady Panthers finished shooting just 38%.
The first eight minutes of the second half were very much like the last five of the first as the lead hovered between 6-10 points before Davenport finally made their big run to go up by as many as 24 with under ten minutes to play.
The defense kept Davenport going while the offense struggled but DU found their shooting touch as they hit 14 shots from behind the arc at a blazing 43%.
Kallie Benike (Campbellsport, Wis.) posted 14 rebounds on the night to give the senior All-American a double-double and
Kristi Boehm (Kent City, Mich.) led the team with 4 assists.
Davenport will be back in action on Wednesday when they open conference play against the Wolves of UM-Dearborn. The game will be broadcast live on the DAN starting with the pre-game show at 7:10pm.
