Box Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - #4 Dayton scored the final goal of the game with .7 seconds remaining as they upended #2 Davenport on Friday night under the lights at Forest Hills Eastern HS. The loss is the first of the season for the Panthers as they will host #5 St. John's on Sunday.

Sam Carlson (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored DU's first three goals but the Flyers ran off five during that same time to lead 5-3. DU struck right back with two goals from leading scorer Shawn Beer (Aurora, Ontario), but it was not enough to close the gap as Dayton took a 7-5 lead into the half.

Davenport opened the second with two more from Beer to even the score only to see Dayton score two straight of their own to go back up 9-7.

Late in the third period, with just under 3:00 to play, the Panthers got two huge goals from Lyle Parks (Troy, Mich.) and Beer to knot the score once again.

Davenport then struck first in the final quarter to take the lead but the Flyers countered with two goals of their own and the back and forth affair continued

Those two goals by Dayton proved to be the final two of the game that included the game winner with just less than a second to play.

The loss sends DU to 6-1 on the year.
