SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Playing their second top-10 opponent in as many days seem to wear on the No. 5 Panthers as they were outscored 6-2 in the second half today with No. 8 Briarcliffe posting the 10-7 victory.  The loss drops Davenport to 8-2 on the year as they will take on No. 3 Dayton next Saturday in Ohio.

Davenport jumped out to a 5-4 halftime lead but the Bulldogs of Briarcliffe posted an impressive 6-2 advantage in the second to deal DU their second loss of the season.

An early goal from the home team at 9:29 of the first gave them a 1-0 lead but Davenport responded and got on the board with 3:07 remaining when freshman Dominic Boggiano (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored an unassisted goal.  The Bulldogs ended the period with a goal of their own to lead 2-1 after 15 minutes of play.

The DU offense found its way in the second quarter as they outscored their opponent 4-2 while collecting four of the first five goals in the first nine minutes.  Seniors Shawn Beer (Aurora, Ontario) and Gavin Morris (Rockford, Mich.) scored back to back goals in the opening five minutes and then Beer followed up with two more at 7:36 and 6:24 to put DU on top 5-4 heading into the locker room.

An early goal from the Bulldogs in the second half was a sign of things to come and with 5:20 to play in the quarter, BC scored the go-ahead goal and they never trailed again.  The home team scored five straight goals at one point taking a commanding 10-6 lead with only 9:29 to play.

A late goal from Dom Boggiano brought the margin to within three for DU but it was not enough as they fell 10-7.

Alexis Buque (Whitby, Ontario) took the loss in net for the Panthers suffering the first loss of his career in a Panther uniform.

Davenport's schedule does not get any easier as it starts with No. 3 Dayton on April 2.  DU will then make the trip to Minnesota where they will meet No. 2 St. Thomas and No. 4 St. Johns. After those three games, Davenport will have played 7 of the top 15 teams in the country.
