WALES, Wisc. – Davenport improved to 2-1 on the season against MCLA D1 teams, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Madison 11-5. Davenport jumped out to a 8-2 lead and held on for the six goal win. Davenport will be in action again tomorrow afternoon when they take on #6 St. Johns in Chicago.
Jordan Richtsmeier and
Jack Turcotte got the Panthers started with both players scoring goals for Davenport in the first five minutes of play. Taylor Start picked up assists on both goals. After a Wisconsin goal, Richtsmeier added his second goal of the game to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead after the first quarter.
In the second quarter,
Dominic Boggiano and
Quintin St. Clair each added a goal to push the Panthers lead to 5-1. Boggiano scored another goal just before the end of the first half and added his third goal of the game in the middle of the third to give the Panthers a 7-2 lead.
Cody Cross added a goal for the Panthers to end the third.
Less than a minute into the fourth quarter,
Lyle Parks gave the Panthers their largest lead of the game at seven goals, 9-2. Wisconsin would score three of the next four goals, with a
Chapin White score in between, to cut the Panthers lead to 10-5 with just less than eight minutes to play. But Wisconsin wouldn't get any closer. Cross added his second goal to help secure the win for Davenport.
Zach Higgins picked up his fourth win of the season after holding MCLA D1 Wisconsin to just five goals and making 10 saves.
Boggiano led the Panthers with three goals while Richtsmeier and Cross each netted two goals.
Davenport will be in action again on Saturday at 2:00 PM EST in Burbank, Ill, which is just outside of Chicago. The Panthers will take on sixth-ranked St. Johns. Live stats will be available for the game.
