Davenport Cruises to 23-4 Win Over Northwood

Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. – Davenport improved to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 overall in CCLA play Thursday night defeating Northwood 23-4. Three Panthers netted three goals while 13 different players scored in the win. Davenport will be in action again next weekend when they travel to St. Louis, Mo. to take on three top-16 teams.

Davenport, who arrived late due to bus problems, came out a little slow to start the game allowing Northwood to get the first goal 1:39 into the quarter. The Panthers responded with eight unanswered to close the quarter with an 8-1 lead. Dominic Boggiano and Jordan Richtsmeier each scored a pair of goals in the first to help the Panthers to the early lead.

The Panthers kept the pressure on in the second quarter building a 13-2 halftime lead. Parker Horvath scored two goals in the final 1:07 of the half for the Panthers.

Davenport dominated the third outscoring Northwood 6-0 and holding them to just one shot in the quarter. In the fourth, Lyle Parks and Parker Horvath each scored a goal to complete their hat tricks.

Boggiano, Parks, and Horvath each had three goals for the Panthers while four other had two goals. Boggiano led the team with eight points (3g, 5a) while Jordan Richtmeier added six points on two goals and four assists for Davenport. Jordan Pier got the win in net for Davenport.

Davenport will be in action again next weekend when they travel to St. Louis for three games in four days. The trip begins with a rematch of last season National Championship game when top-ranked Davenport takes on #2 St. Thomas. Davenport will also face #11 North Dakota State and #16 Missouri Baptist.

Post-Game Notes

This was the first time this season that the Panthers played outdoors, playing their first three games indoors in Pontiac, Mich….13 different Panthers scored in the win…Davenport improves to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in CCLA play.
