Panthers Roll Past Chowan 18-4, Comes Home With 3-1 Record

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Kaitlyn Lowden scored four goals and Taylor Balch tallied four assists as the two led the Davenport women's lacrosse team to an 18-4 win at Chowan Friday afternoon. After opening their season this week, the Lady Panthers return to Michigan with a 3-1 record and will open their home slate against Alma Tuesday at 2 p.m.
 
Balch, Sara Kuzava and Natalie McHale had multi-day afternoon as each of them scored a pair of goals, while Lena Henderson made five saves and conceded all four goals between the pipes.
 
The Lady Panthers scored 10 of the 18 goals in the first half, with Lowden recorded three of her four goals and Kuzava and Balch netted their two. Mackenzie VanDerWarf, Tara Pluger and Britteny Willis and accounted for a goal in the opening period to put the game out of the Hawks reach.
 
Henderson held Chowan scoreless until the 24 minute mark. The Hawks also had a bit of a rhythm going when they added three consecutive goals midway through the half.
 
Post-Game Notes
Davenport won the inaugural meeting against Chowan…Mariah Newton and Nikki Herrmann led the Panthers in ground balls with four each.
