Men’s Lacrosse Readies For Showdown With Rival Grand Valley State

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport and Grand Valley have met in the MCLA division 2 National Tournament for three straight years but that streak will end this year as the Panthers have moved up to division. The rivalry between the two teams will continue Wednesday night as the two teams face off in Allendale, Mich. Here is a preview of tonight's game.

THE TEAMS:  Davenport (4-2,) vs. Grand Valley State (2-4)
 
THE GAME: Wednesday, March 27, 2012 • Allendale, MI • 7:00 p.m.
 
PANTHERS VERSUS LAKERS: The Lakers hold a 4-5 all-time series lead over the Panthers.   

WEEKEND RECAP: Davenport was in action Sunday when they hosted the University of Buffalo at the DU Turf Field. The Panthers rolled past the Bulls 13-2 thanks to seven goals in the first quarter. Jordan Richtsmeier led the Panthers with three goals and three assists while Dominic Boggiano added two goals and two assists.   
 
SCOUTING GRAND VALLEY STATE:  The Lakers enter the weekend with a 2-4 record. GVSU started the season going 2-2 on  a spring trip down to Palm Beach, Fl with wins over SCAD and Western Washington. Grand Valley enters tonight's game on a two game losing streak after dropping games to Liberty and St. Johns.

Attacker Brendan Austin has been carrying the offensive load for the Lakers and leads the team with 17 goals on the year followed by Jeremy Pouba with 8, and Tyler Farmer with 7. Danny Kransberger has played in net each game for the Lakers and has posted a 10.33 GAA and a .544 save percentage.
