Next DU event: Indiana Wesleyan or Hastings – NAIA Division II National Tournament Quarterfinals Round (Tyson Events Center, Sioux City, Iowa) – Saturday, March 15 – 7 p.m. EDT

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – It was all DU's starters Friday afternoon as Tiesha Stokes scored 24 points, Alison Bouman added 19 and Kia Frazier and Brittany Johnson each had 10 to lead the second-ranked and top seeded Davenport women's basketball team to a 110-77 victory over Purdue University Calumet (Ind.) in the second round of the NAIA Division II Tournament. The Panthers, who improve to 33-1 on the year, advance to the quarterfinal round and will face the winner of the Indiana Wesleyan/Hastings matchup Saturday at 7 p.m. EDT.

Should Indiana Wesleyan advance, it will setup a rematch from last year's national championship game, which the Wildcats won 61-43.

The Peregrines (24-7), who have been known for taking advantage of the free throws with a nation-best 79.4 percentile, went 20-for-30 (66.7 percent) on the charity stripe. Tierra Turner led the effort for Purdue Calumet with 22 points.

Davenport took control of the game going on a 13-1 run right from the start. Bouman had two layups for four points and Stokes had a traditional 3-point play to lead the momentum. Davenport had another rhythm midway through the opening period as Bouman scored five points to lead the Panthers in a 14-2 run to elevate the lead to 52-21.

While never trailing, DU led by as many as 31 in the first half when Linnea Brandholm hit a 3-pointer with 2:17 left.

The Panthers were impressive around the perimeter in the first half, shooting 69.7 percent (23-for-33) while holding the Peregines to 22.6 (7-for-31). Stokes led the way in the opening half going 6-for-7 in the paint and added a pair of free throws for 14 points. Alison Bouman was not that far behind her with 13 points. The two combined for 10 of DU's 23 rebounds in the opening period.
