Men’s Lacrosse Beats Siena Heights to Win Second WHAC Championship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's lacrosse team played Siena Heights for the WHAC Championship on Saturday evening. Parker Horvath led the charge for Davenport with four goals and one assist, while Dominic Boggiano chipped in with two goals and three assists. The Panthers beat the Saints 14-5 to win their second straight WHAC Championship, and are 9-4 on the season overall. Davenport will continue their postseason with the CCLA Conference Tournament in the Saline, Mich. starting on May 1.
 
The Panthers started the game on fire going on a 10-0 run to start the game. Daniel Hume started the scoring in the game for DU just 1:11 in to the game. Parker Horvath, Chapin White, Dominic Boggiano and CJ Bush all tied a goal in the first quarter, while Hume tallied his second goal part way through the quarter as the Panthers took a 6-0 lead after the first quarter.
 
Nathaniel Adkins scored his first goal of the game to start the second quarter, and Horvath tallied two more and Bush tallied his second as the Panthers capped off a 10-0 with 12:02 left in the second quarter. Siena Heights finally got on the board as they scored two goals to close out the second quarter as Davenport took a 10-2 lead into halftime.
 
Boggiano scored to start the second half and stopped the Siena Heights run. Adkins tallied his second goal of the game to give the Panthers a 12-2 lead. However, the Saints were able to score three goals in the final eight minutes of the third quarter to cut the Davenport lead to 12-5 heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Horvath and Quintin St. Clair scored two goals back-to-back midway through the fourth quarter to give Davenport a 14-5 lead. Neither team was able to score in the final minutes of the game as Davenport won the game 14-5 to take their second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship.
 
The Panthers will now head to Saline, Mich. for the CCLA Conference tournament starting on May 1. The winner of the conference tournament will also grab an automatic bid into the MCLA National Tournament.
