Men’s Lacrosse Heads to Virginia to Open 2015 Campaign

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's lacrosse team will open their 2015 season on the road this weekend with two games in Lynchburg, Virginia this Saturday and Sunday. The Panthers will clash with Clemson University on Saturday, and Liberty University on Sunday. The Panthers will be on the road for the next three weekends to compete in a handful of non-conference games.

Chris Gervat's Panthers this season return 19 players from last years roster, including senior Parker Horvath, who was named first team All-WHAC and second team All-CCLA last season. Horvath led the team with 32 assists and was second on the team in goals (39) and total points (71).

Junior Ryan Hartnagel and sophomore Devon Benson also highlight the key returners from last year's squad, as both earned All-CCLA honors last season, along with Hartnagel earning All-WHAC Honorable Mention honors as well.
 
The Panthers open the 2015 campaign ranked 19th overall in the MCLA polls, one behind Sunday's opponent Liberty. Clemson did not manage to make the top 25.

Scouting Clemson
The Tigers return junior captain Ian Seale, who led the team in total points (34) and goals scored (23) last season. Fellow captain JP Brennan also returns for Clemson, for he led the team in assists (13) and was second in goals scored (14) and total points (27).  The Tigers finished last season with a 5-6 overall record, going 2-2 in the SELC division.

Scouting Liberty
The Eagles finished 14-4 last season, going 5-0 in the SELC. They will be led by reigning SELC Offensive player of the year Ryan Miller, who finished last season leading his team in goals (58) and total points (82). Liberty also brings back their key starting goalie Ethan Kamholtz, who recorded a 62.6 saves percentage last year, en route to earning All-SELC Honorable Mention.
