Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's lacrosse team began a three-game home stand with a 15-11 win over Grand Valley State on Wednesday night. The Panthers trailed 1-0 early and then scored four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead.
Jarred Riley scored three of those goals and
Jon Nykamp recorded the other.
The Panthers had a big second quarter scoring five times as
Paul Schalau scored twice. Riley,
Bryan Larocque and
Blain Adams had the other goals for Davenport.
Joe Lopez got Davenport on the board in the third quarter followed by goals from
Devon Benson and Riley. Riley also ended the third with a goal at 6:28. Larocque and Lopez made it 15-7 with 9:24 left in the game before GVSU scored four straight to make things more interesting.
Davenport recorded 32 ground balls and won 22-of-29 face-offs. DU went 3-for-10 in extra-man opportunities and were 13-of-13 in clears.
Logan Poe made eight saves in the cage for the Panthers. Schalau added three assists to go with two goals.
Jimmy DeJaeger recorded 11 ground balls and one assist. Riley led the team with six goals.
