SAGINAW, Mich. - Freshman
Emma Wallis brought home the first ever GLIAC Championship for Davenport University women's swimming and diving on Thursday. The four-time GLIAC Swimmer of the Week touched the wall first in the 400 IM (4:22.70) after placing third in the 200 IM (2:04.62) on Wednesday. Once the dust had settled, the Panthers were still sitting in fourth out of six teams with 186.5.
Wallis was one of three Panthers to swim in the finals of the 400 IM along with
Victoria Postmus in seventh (4:35.54) and
Jesica Smit in 11th (4:39.34).
Megan Fraula placed eighth in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.45 and
Lauren Bockheim was 10th in the 100 fly where she was clocked at 57.79.
Relay wise, the team of Bockheim, Wallis,
Kaylee VanDeusen, and
Sara Mumby finished in fourth for the 400 medley at 3:54.88. The quartet of
Anna Wooters,
Jenna Schrotenboer, Fraula, and Mumby placed sixth in the 200 free relay with a time of 3:54.88.
The schedule won't change on day three as the preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with the finals set to start at 5:30 p.m.
