GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team made it 12 straight wins over nearby Cornerstone on Friday afternoon with an 82-71 victory at the DU Student Center. The Panthers set a season-high with their 82 points eclipsing their previous high of 73 against Hillsdale back on Nov. 27. They also shot 45.5 percent from the floor and made 11 three-pointers. The team had a successful day at the free throw line shooting 78.6 percent (11-of-14) which was a season-high in that category.
The Panthers really hit the offensive glass in this one with 18 offensive rebounds and turned that into 27 second-chance points. DU also got 28 points off the bench compared to 13 for the Golden Eagles. The Panthers hit their shots during crunch time going 9-of-15 in the fourth quarter from the floor and they also were 5-of-9 behind the arc.
Freshman
Ellie Toney led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds in 29 minutes. She connected on 7-of-8 from the free throw line after her previous high of free throws made was three. Toney also had four assists, a season-high, and four steals, a season-high.
Lillee Gustafson added 14 points and seven boards in 30 minutes going 7-of-11 from the floor.
Jaci Walker had a career-high 12 points to go with four rebounds and three assists.
Scout Nelson added eight points and had a team-high five assists.
