ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams got one last chance to refine their events at the GVSU Tune Up on Friday prior to next weekend's GLIAC Indoor Championships also hosted by the Lakers at the Kelly Sports Family Center.
Joey Fox set a school record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.04 and won the event in a field of 16 competitors.
Corbin DeJonge hit the NCAA standard qualifying mark in the 60-meter hurdles placing second with a time of 8.31. That puts him 36th in the nation at this point.
Lisa Wangler moved up on the national performance list in the women's weight throw (57' 6") now ranking 26th in the nation at Division II and placed second in the event.
Other notables performances included
Leialani Akalaonu winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.99.
Mya Staczek finished second in the same event with a time of 8.08 and set a personal record.
Emma Schafer placed third in the high jump (5' 2").
Sidney Heugel placed sixth in the pole vault but did hit a NCAA provisional mark at 12' 1".
Jessica Marvin finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 54' 7".
Colin Grady won the 200 meters for the men with a time of 22.43.
Ethan Flores was victorious in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.12 which was .04 seconds from his personal record.
Isaiah Schafer finished second in the weight throw with a NCAA provisional of 61' 6".
Claude Ockert was on his heels in third place in the same event with a toss of 61' 4" but did not improve on his previous provisional mark. Schafer won the shot put with a throw of 59' 7" which did not improve on his provisional mark.
