DAYTON, Ohio - The wommen's bowling team concluded their season over the weekend at the USBC Intercollegiate Singles and Team Sectionals held at Poelking Lanes South. On Friday it was the singles competition and then the two-day team event occurred on Saturday and Sunday.
The top five bowlers from each of four sectionals would qualify for the USBC Nationals.
Karine Bouchard would be the top finisher for the Panthers in 25th place out of 135 bowlers. Bouchard averaged an impressive 196 in six games and had a high of 222 in the first game and bowled over 200 in two other games.
Omani Morales placed 54th overall with an average of 180.7 and had a high of 212 in the fifth game and followed that with a 211 in the final game to finish strong.
Merisa Batkins placed 66th with an average of 176 and had a high of 201 in the fifth and sixth games to move up the standings.
The team competition is grueling with 64 baker games broken up in 16-game blocks of four. The first 32 were bowled on Saturday and the final 32 games took place on Sunday. DU finished ninth out of 16 teams with a grand total of 11,216 which is an average of 175.3.
