MONROE, Mich. - Securing the American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) Championship women's conference title and taking third and second place for men's varsity and junior varsity, respectively, the Davenport University bowling teams showcased their dominance to round out a successful year of league play.
The Panthers swept the women's major awards, with Kasey Eaton receiving Bowler of the Year and head coach Bryan Eaton being named Coach of the Year. DU's women's team finished second in the AHBA No. 6 (5,801), as the men's team took third with a final score of 6,060. The women claimed first place in AHBA's No. 2, 3 and 5, as their second-place finishes in AHBA's No. 1 and 6 led to their second consecutive conference title.
Bella Harnish-Fitzgerald's pinfall of 453 through two games helped the junior finish No. 1 overall in the individual leaderboards. She was followed by Carly Snyder (fourth, 430), Kasey Eaton (sixth, 427), Kadence Bottrall (eighth, 415), and Chloe Crick (36th, 328). Lauren Taylor (sixth, 306), Jocelyne Jean (ninth, 292), and Paige Hall (11th, 284) were the trio of Panthers competing for women's junior varsity.
Lucas Buck again led the way for DU, claiming 15th with a pinfall of 431 in two games. Teammates Ryan Oyama (20th, 422), Tyler Kelly (34th, 387), and Charlie Johnson (37th, 371) rounded out the quad of Panthers that played both baker games.
Ethan Lindsey (first, 525), Michael Willshire (second, 477), and Antonio Martinez (ninth, 390) claimed top-10 positions for men's junior varsity, with Sam Woolworth (14th, 366) and Jaxon Ward (24th, 307) taking the last two spots for DU as competitors in both baker games.
As a result, Eaton and Harnish-Fitzgerald earned First Team All-Conference honors, with Bottrall and Buck earning Second Team nods.
The Panthers will rest for the upcoming AHBA Collegiate Open on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Oakwood Village, OH.
