ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Davenport track and field programs had a historic meet at the 2022 GLIAC Outdoor Championships which concluded on Friday. The men's team finished with 119 points and claimed second place, while the women's team finished with 114 points and claimed fourth place. Both of those finishes were the best since joining the league.
The major awards were captured by Isaiah and
Emma Schafer who both were named GLIAC Field Athlete of the Meet. Isaiah also went on to win GLIAC Field Athlete of the Year and Emma was recognized as the GLIAC High Point Athlete of the Meet. Isaiah
won the discus (169' 2") and finished 2nd in the shot put (60' 7.25" - school record) and 6th in the hammer (191' 10"). He improved his provisional mark in the shot put and is currently seventh in Division II. Emma was very busy over the past three days and won the heptathlon (5,107 points) and was 2nd in the javelin (133') and high jump (5' 4.25"), 3rd in the 100 hurdles (14.64), 5th in the long jump (17' 6.75"). She set a new personal best and school record in the heptathlon and hit a provisional mark that is currently sixth in Division II. Emma also set a school record in the 100 hurdles and the javelin.
Noah Dooley was a GLIAC champion in the decathlon and broke the GLIAC meet record and school record with 7,172 points.
The previous mark was 7,061 points set in 2015 by Theo Mancheron of Tiffin. His point total is currently fifth in NCAA Division II.

Other school records that fell during the meet included
Joey Fox in the 800 meters (1:55.16),
Ella Baryo in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:21.21),
Jessica Marvin in the shot put (44' 3.5") and discus (140' 6"), and
Lisa Wangler in the hammer (177' 9"). Wangler finished second in the hammer and improved her national mark to 24th.
There were also numerous student-athletes that had a podium (top three) finish and they are listed below.
