On June 11-12, the Davenport University Call of Duty team traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete for a national championship after finishing as a Top 8 team in the country. After a couple days of promising scrimmages against other teams attending the event such as Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, St. Clair College, and Westcliff University, DU was ready and raring to get into bracket play.
Unfortunately the day did not go as planned as Davenport was eliminated after losing to St. Edward's University 3-1 and Ottawa University 3-0. Head Coach
Colin Graham was quoted, "We knew coming in that this first match against St. Edward's would set the tone for the rest of the bracket. After losing on a very close Search and Destroy and then another close loss on Control, we had our backs against the wall and just couldn't pull it out. Following that match we had a Top 3 team in the nation in Ottawa which was one team we hoped to side-step until further in the bracket. Because of this, we ended up losing handily to the defending national champions and were eliminated on the first day. All in all, it was a positive experience for our students, we finished Top 8 out of almost 200 schools across the United States and Canada and it gave us a good idea of what we need to do to return next year."
Davenport finished Stage 1 of the season with a record of 9-2 with notable wins over Ferris State, GVSU, Michigan State, and Wayne State.
Davenport finished Stage 2 of the season with a record of 7-2.
Davenport's final record for the season was 16-4 in regular season and 0-2 in playoffs.
