ADDISON, Ill. - The Davenport women's bowling team needed to make the top four at sectionals over the weekend in order to qualify for nationals. The Panthers were just shy of that goal in fifth place after 64 baker games with a total of 12,233. After all of those games they were just 10 pins from nationals behind fourth-place Maryville. Webber International, Mount Mercy, and Louisiana Tech also finished in a position to qualify for nationals.
The men's side of things saw the Panthers finish eighth in their sectional also consisting of 64 baker games. They had a total of 12,725 as Webber International, Mount Mercy, Saint Xavier, and Lawrence Tech punched their ticket to Las Vegas on April 19.
Davenport was fortunate enough to be able to send three individuals to Las Vegas based on qualifying on Friday.
Karine Bouchard was the top qualifier for the women with a six-game total of 1,293.
Carly Snyder will join Bouchard as she finished seventh with a total of 1,216 and bowled over 200 in her last three games in order to qualify. On the men's side,
Nick Luther took the top spot with a total of 1,402 in six games and rolled over 200 in five of those games including a high of 278 in the third game.
