CALEDONIA, Mich. - Davenport's outdoor track and field teams will play host to the 2023 GLIAC Championships on May 3-5 at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. Heading into this week's competition, the Panthers national rankings are as follows:
Ella Baryo (3,000 steeplechase) - 23rd (10:49.95)
Sidney Heugel (Pole Vault) - 29th (3.8 meters)
Noah Evers (Shot Put) - 5th (18.67 meters)Â
Noah Evers (Discus) - 14th (52.9 meters)
Both the men's and women's teams had their highest placement in last year's event and are hoping to continue to build off that performance.
Noah Dooley will look to repeat as GLIAC champion in the decathlon after breaking the GLIAC meet record and school record with 7,172 points. Also back to compete for the top spot in their events include
Brendan LaLonde in the sprints and finishing second in the 100 meters and third in the 200 meters in 2022.
Cody Brandenburg was able to finish third in the triple jump a year ago.
Scout Nelson placed third in the 400 meters.
Stacia Rispress brought home third in the high jump.
Mackenzie Brigham took third in the triple jump.
Annabelle Schafer finished second in the heptathlon and third in the javelin throw.
