MONROE, Mich. - The Davenport University bowling teams competed in the American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) Championships this weekend, as the women's team won the title and the men's team finished fifth.

Placing first out of 12 teams, the women's team saw Karine Bouchard named Women's Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference, Kadence Bottrall named First Team All-Conference, Kasey Eaton named Second Team All-Conference, and Bryan Eaton named Women's Coach of the Year.

The women's team won three of the five varsity women's tournaments (one through three) to secure the conference title, bowling an overall score of 6,726 for 90 conference points.

Finishing third in conference points (67.5) and taking bronze in the conference championship with a score of 6,965, the men's team received an honor as Nick Luther was named Second Team All-Conference.

The men's junior varsity team also found success as they won the JV AHBA Tournament 3 and received individual All-Tournament honors: Michael Willshire (Tournaments 1 and 3), Antonio Martinez (Tournament 1), Charlie Johnson (Tournaments 2 and 3), and Tyler Latunski and Aspen Pietrzykowski (Tournament 5).

Both teams now prepare for the Hoosier Classic on Feb. 10-11 in Indianapolis, Ind.
