Panthers get three event wins at the GVSU Tune Up

ALLENDALE, Mich. - It was a good day for the 60 meters and 60-meter hurdles on Friday at the Grand Valley State Tune Up. Ethan Scholten was one of three Panthers to win an even in the 60 meters with a time of 6.82 seconds. The time did hit the NCAA provisional mark, but did not improve upon his best time of 6.78 from earlier this season. Kay-Lee McSwain was victorious in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.94 which was .04 better than her time in the prelims.

Annabelle Schafer picked up the win in the women's long jump with a distance of 17' 4" and got that on her sixth and final jump. Julia Tuuri was able to finish second in the 60 meters with a time of 7.83 and Arrionna Wallace placed fourth at 8.02. Erin Boettcher placed second in the 200 meters in a time of 26.13. Erin Dorn crossed the line in second place during the 400 meters in a time of 58.73 to set a new personal best.

Tessa Blankenship finished second in the triple jump and got her mark of 31' 9.25" on her final jump. Owen Alderink finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.84. Nick Ruvalcaba hit the NCAA provisional mark in the pole vault (16' 1.25") and took third place. He is currently ranked 27th in the event nationally. Cody Brandenburg placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 38' 5.5".
