Panthers set three school records in two meets

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams were in two different locations in Missouri over the weekend. There were three runners that competed at the Washington University Distance Carnival in St. Louis and a handful of others that went to the Southeast Missouri Joey Haines Invitational in Cape Girardeau.

Ella Baryo ran in the 3,000 steeplechase in St. Louis and finished 14th with a time of 11:07.50. Erin Dorn broke the school record in the 800 meters and also hit the NCAA qualifying mark which currently ranks 13th in Division II. She took third place in the event with a time of 2:11.31. Nik Shilling also broke the school record in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:53.42.

During the Joey Haines Invitational, Julia Tuuri broke the school record in the 100 and 200 meters. She was fourth in the 100 meters (12.06) and sixth in the 200 meters (25.06). Haley Esser also ran the second fastest 200 meters in school history (25.50) and the fifth best 100 meters (12.45).

Kay-Lee McSwain turned in the fifth fastest time in the 100 hurdles (15.01) and Annabelle Schafer was right behind her at 15.31. Sidney Heugel was able to finish fourth in the pole vault at 11' 11.75".

Solomon King took home third place in the 100 meters (10.68) which is fourth all-time at DU and he also ran in the 200 meters (21.83) and had the fifth best time for the Panthers. Adam Jorgensen finished third in the 400 hurdles (54.84) and had the second best time in school history.

Noah Evers hit the national qualifying mark in the discus (175' 5") and is currently seventh in Division II. The throw was second all-time at DU as well. He also was in second place in the shot put (58' 4.5") which was a qualifying mark moving up to fifth in Division II.

Bryce Monroe improved nearly three meters on his personal best in the discus and was a fourth best all-time throw (161' 1"). Bryce Albrecht won the pole vault at 15' 7".
