Panthers remain perfect after tight win over Walsh

Box Score NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Keelan McKouen led the way for the Davenport University men's lacrosse team in a victory over Walsh University, 10-8.

The tightly contested game saw the Cavaliers take their first and only lead at the 14:10 mark of the first period. DU maintained a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period as McKouen tallied his first of three goals, and Dawson Gillette created DU's first lead with 1:55 remaining.

Walsh managed to tie the game a few minutes into the second (9:55) and third periods (12:08), but DU prevented the Cavs from regaining the lead for the remainder of the contest. With unassisted goals by Braylon Baker and Luke Eichbauer in the second period, the Panthers held a 4-3 advantage at halftime.

A 3-2 scoring run by DU in the third created enough separation for the Panthers to pull out the victory, with the game's final goal coming at the 3:14 mark by Walsh.

Backed by McKouen's strong play on offense, Gillette recorded two goals in the win, followed by one goal each from Jayden Ashley, Dylan Day, Ty Woods, Baker, and Eichbauer. Daniel Milano matched his season low in saves with five for a .385 save percentage.

Improving to 7-0 on the season, the Panthers have over a week to prepare for a tough matchup against UIndy on March 20 to begin conference action.
