MLAX Preview: DU hosts Cardinals on Senior Day for season finale

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University men's lacrosse prepares for its final game of the season on Senior Day 2024 after falling out of postseason contention.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament consists of the top four teams in the league. With Indianapolis, Maryville, Rockhurst, and Lewis in a four-way tie for first, the Panthers' 1-4 conference record won't clinch a berth this season.

Daniel Milano remains a top-15 contender in NCAA Division II for save percentage (13th, .559%), with Kaden Seelye leading the GLVC in caused turnovers per contest (2.69) to tie him for ninth overall in NCAA DII. Seelye also set the all-time program record for caused turnovers (101 total) this season, which stood untouched since 2020. Offensively, Jayden Ashley is No. 3 in the conference for goals per game (2.46) and Braylon Baker's 4.77 points per contest is the 13th-best mark in the country.

With that, DU looks to shake off a two-game skid as they host William Jewell in a battle to clinch fifth place in the conference standings.

William Jewell Matchup
2024 is the inaugural season for Cardinals men's lacrosse both as a program and member of the GLVC, selected to finish last (No. 7) in the conference preseason poll. William Jewell is 7-7 this season (1-4 conference), the league victory against Quincy in their most recent game on Apr. 20.

Jake Wynecoop, Tanner Garcia, and Olivier LaPlante lead all scorers with 24 and t-14 goals, respectively. A trio of other Cardinals are also in double figures, including Nathaniel Leroux (13), Carson Wright (13), and Seth Health (12).

Fynn Ziebarth has started and played in all 14 games as goalkeeper while averaging the 10th-best save percentage in the country (No. 3 GLVC) at .560 and the highest number of saves in the conference at 196 total. Zach Johnson's 23 caused turnovers is a team-best, with Hunter Mee rounding out the defensive efforts as the team leader in groundballs (62).

This is the first faceoff between William Jewell and DU in the all-time series.
