Three Panthers receive GLVC honors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A trio of Panthers received Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) All-Conference honors for Davenport University men's lacrosse.

The team reached new heights in the 2024 campaign; tabbing the program's highest win tally (10) since moving up to NCAA Division II, receiving a national ranking, and multiple program records being rewritten.

Braylon Baker is a first-year Panther but was a catalyst for the team's success as he was named Second Team All-GLVC. The junior attacker was nationally ranked individually for assists and points per game for consecutive weeks and is the No. 1 player in the conference for each category at 2.29 and 4.71, respectively, ahead of the GLVC Tournament. Baker's 34 goals tied him for first on the team and t-fourth in the conference, while his 32 assists were the team-high by a large margin. He also recorded 26 groundballs and 80 shot attempts for a .688 shot-on-goal percentage. Baker appeared in all 14 contests this year while making seven starts.

Named Honorable Mention All-GLVC as a defender, Kaden Seelye received his second all-conference career nod this season. Seelye rewrote the program record books for a handful of categories, including the most caused turnovers of 100 total (40 in 2024), the best career caused turnovers per game average of 2.27 (min. 30 games played), and eclipsed the top ten for career groundballs with 157 total - nabbing 48 this season. Seelye's 2024 caused turnover average of 2.79 is the highest mark in the GLVC and ranks him at No. 9 in NCAA Division II before postseason action.

Dylan Day received the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award, the first player to receive the honor in program history. The award is "...given each year to the institutions and student-athletes who actively demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship, character, and conduct during competition throughout the year," according to the GLVC. Day appeared in all 14 games this year for the Panthers, recording 11 goals, five assists, seven groundballs, and four caused turnovers. His 24 shot attempts created a shot-on-goal percentage of .750 overall.
