Panthers Look to Defend Home Turf

CALEDONIA, Mich. – The Davenport Panthers are set to host their eighth and ninth matches of the season this weekend, welcoming Roosevelt University on Friday, Oct. 3, and Purdue Northwest on Sunday, Oct. 5. Both matches are scheduled for 2:00 PM kickoffs at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex.

Freshman Charlie Davis continues to lead the Panthers offensively, posting a team-high 14 shots, eight of which have been on target. He also shares the team lead in points (2) in a three-way tie. Close behind is Easton Lopez, who has notched 10 shots with six on goal, maintaining steady offensive pressure.

In goal, Beau Hudd has faced 67 shots this season, making 19 saves and carrying a 1.24 goals-against average (GAA).

Roosevelt Matchup
Entering just their second season in the GLIAC, Roosevelt University continues to make an impact after finishing as runner-up in the 2024 GLIAC Finals. The Lakers and Panthers met three times last season, with Roosevelt holding a 2-1-0 edge in the all-time series, giving Davenport the opportunity to even the score in this weekend's matchup.

Caco Fernandez leads the team with 15 total shots and nine shots on goal, while Noah Vasilev has added 12 shots with four on target. Offensively, Fynn Mewes has been a standout, scoring four goals and contributing two assists for a team-high 10 points.

In net, keeper Eric Carvajal has faced 82 shots, recording 35 saves and allowing 10 goals, good for a 1.25 GAA so far in the 2025 season.

The Lakers bring a 4-1-3 overall record and a 2-0-1 mark in conference play into Friday's contest. They're riding a two-game win streak, having recently edged Parkside 4-3 and shut out Northern Michigan 1-0.

Purdue Northwest Matchup

Davenport leads the overall series matchup with the Pride 11-7-1 with their last matchup dating back to Oct. 27 of the 2024 season where DU drew a 2-1 victory.

In their most recent week of play, the Pride fell short in close matches, losing 0-1 to both Northern Michigan and Parkside. Before facing the Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 5, PNW will take on #20 Saginaw Valley State on Friday, Oct. 3.

Offensively, Hugo Lorenzo leads the team with 22 shots, half of which (11) have been on goal. Aloe Berassa adds to the offensive pressure with 18 shots, including eight on target. Lorenzo and Landon Potts each have tallied two goals, while several other players have chipped in with one goal apiece.

In goal, Mateus Baptista de Souza has seen the majority of playing time, making 11 saves on 53 shots while allowing 12 goals. Vittorio Pandini shares time in net, recording seven saves after facing 22 shots and conceding five goals.
