Weekend Road Preview

CALEDONIA, Mich - The Panthers closed out their eighth and ninth matches of the season last week with a 1-2 loss to Roosevelt and a 2-2 draw against Purdue Northwest. Davenport's strong performance against Purdue Northwest provides momentum heading into a pair of road matchups this weekend against Parkside and Northern Michigan.

After returning from a recent injury, sophomore defender Ryan Sheffer has made an immediate impact on the field, scoring in back-to-back matches. Sheffer now leads the team in goals (2), is tied for the team lead in points (4), and has placed all three of his shots on target.

Adding to the offensive momentum, Charlie Davis notched an assist in the Purdue Northwest match, setting up Sheffer's goal. Davis now leads the team in assists (2), matches Sheffer with four total points, and paces the Panthers in shots (16) and shots on goal (9).

Parkside Matchup
The Rangers currently sit in third place in the GLIAC standings, holding a 3-3-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play. Their only GLIAC loss came against Roosevelt on Sept. 26 in a 3-4 result. Parkside has earned victories over Northern Michigan, Purdue Northwest, and St. Cloud State, and will face Davenport on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. ET before hosting Saginaw Valley State on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen leads the Rangers in scoring with five goals, ranking second overall in the GLIAC. He also paces the team in shots (16), shots on goal (9), and points (12). Providing additional offensive pressure, Yeison Santos follows closely behind with 14 shots, seven of which have been on target.

In net, goalkeeper Daniyal Rana has started all seven matches for Parkside, recording 45 saves on 130 shots faced. He currently holds a 2.00 goals-against average and a .763 save percentage, while leading the GLIAC in saves per game with 6.43.

Northern Michigan Matchup
Northern Michigan sits just below Parkside in the GLIAC standings, holding the No. 4 spot with a 3-2-3 overall record and a 2-2 mark in conference play. The Wildcats have earned wins over Purdue Northwest and St. Cloud State, while falling to Parkside and Roosevelt. NMU will host No. 17 Saginaw Valley before welcoming Davenport on Oct. 12 for a noon kickoff.

Luca Rosen leads the Wildcats in multiple offensive categories, including goals (3), points (7), shots (25), and shots on goal (13). Supporting the offensive effort are Teun Van Gansewinkel and James Carr, who have each recorded two assists. Van Gansewinkel also contributes heavily to the attack with 20 shots this season.

In net, goalkeeper Asaf Kristal has started all eight matches for the Wildcats, making 24 saves on 84 shots faced and posting a 0.75 goals-against average. Kristal leads the GLIAC in both save percentage (.793) and shutouts per game (0.50).
