ALLENDALE, Mich. - The GVSU Big Meet was conducted over a period of Friday and Saturday at the Kelly Family Sports Center. The meet was truly treated like two separate meets and the Panthers provided plenty of highlights. In terms of Friday's notables,
Julia Tuuri set the school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.75. She was two one-hundredths of a second better than her time back on Jan. 18 at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open.
Ella Baryo broke her own school record in the mile with a time of 4:50.48 and is currently 23rd on the NCAA performance list. Baryo's previous best was 4:53.54 just a week ago at the University of Michigan Invitational.
Alivia Lamborne ran 18:47.89 in the 5,000 meters for a new PR and that time ranks fourth all-time at Davenport. Nik Shilling posted a time of 1:52.25 in the 800 meters and hit the NCAA provisional mark.
Jordan Domany would compete in the 5,000 meters and run the second fastest time in school history at 15:00.80.
Garrett Melling finished at 15:02.68 for the third best time.
Jacob Dennis ran the fourth fastest time at 15:04.16.Â
Onward to Saturday's highlights, it was
Soleil Moore running the second best time at DU in the 200 meters at 25.49 and finishing in seventh place. Baryo broke another school record in the 3,000 meters (9:57.91) and finished second. She was significantly better than the record she established of 10:13.98 set at last year's GLIAC Championships. The 4x400 relay consisting of
Erin Boettcher,
Lacy Hess, Tuuri, and Moore took first place and established a new school record of 3:51.01. It was also a NCAA provisional mark.
Drew Sharrar broke the school record in the 3,000 meters (8:34.25) that was held by
Rogan Melling set at last year's GLIAC Championships (8:36.27).
Bryce Albrecht hit the provisional mark in the pole vault (15' 9") and placed second in the event.
Brayden Green in the triple jump set the school record with a distance of 47' 7.25" and won the event. He also hit the provisional mark and is currently 44th in Division II.
