PREVIEW: Panthers Look to Bounce Back Against Madonna

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After dropping its season-opener to No. 4 Maryville, the Davenport University men's lacrosse team is heading to Livonia, Mich. to take on Madonna on Saturday (Feb. 14). 

In the loss to the Saints, redshirt junior Sean House recorded an impressive 27 saves, marking the second most in a contest in school history. The performance helped him garner G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

Two Panthers found the back of the net in the season opener, as Jayden Ashley scored one, while Charlie Fritz finished with a team-best two goals.

About the Crusaders 
  • Last season, Madonna finished 14-6 overall and 6-1 in conference play, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament. They fell in the second round to No. 3-seeded Cumberlands in the semifinal.
  • Returned their top offensive threat from a season ago, Benjamin Reidy, who led the team in goals (62) and points (87).
  • Defeated Saint Ambrose in their season opener 23-9. Senior Cooper Regimbal led the squad in the victory, finishing with five goals and four assists.
  • Jonathan Benfeldt is the new primary goalkeeper for Madonna. A season ago, he made three appearances with four saves.
