PREVIEW: Panthers Continue Non-Conference Stretch Against Nationally-Ranked Lewis

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After splitting its opening two games of the season, the Davenport University men's lacrosse team is set for its third straight out-of-conference matchup to start the year. The Panthers (1-1, 0-0 G-MAC) will take on its second-ranked opponent of the season, battling No. 11 Lewis at 3 p.m. on Friday. 

The Panthers have earned back-to-back G-MAC Athlete of the Week nods. First, in week one, Sean House was named Defensive Player of the Week after accumulating an impressive 27 saves against No. 4 Maryville.

This past week, attack Jayden Ashley earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, leading DU to a 17-16 win over Madonna, finishing with 10 points (seven goals and three assists) to lead the way.

About the Flyers
  • Last season, the Flyers went 12-5 overall and 3-2 in GLVC action, advancing to the conference finals, falling to No. 1-seeded Maryville 9-8. Lewis returns its top goal-scorer from last season, Malikye Good.
  • Paul Ruskosko leads the squad in goals (16) and points (18) and earned GLVC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Feb. 9. 
  • The Flyers' only loss this season has come to No. 6 Seton Hill, falling 11-7 on the road.
