LIMA, Ohio – No. 6 Davenport picked up their seventh straight win to open the 2012-13 campaign as the Panthers posted a 92-79 road win over Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday night. Davenport led 42-36 at halftime and increased the margin to 19 in the second half to improve to 3-0 in league action. DU will host Lourdes University on Saturday at 1:00pm.
Freshman
Tiesha Stokes led all scorers with 19 points while
Alex Law (15) and
Kayleigh VanKeulen (11) combined for 26 points off the bench for the Panthers. Davenport shot just 45.3 % from the field but limited the host Racers to only 36.0% on 27/75 shooting from the floor. UNOH controlled the glass as they posted 30 offensive rebounds and finished with a 56-39 advantage overall.
Davenport used most of the first half to build a double-digit lead and had it up to as many as 14 when
Karli Harris hit a runner in the lane. The host Racers picked up the pace with just less than five minutes to play and ended the opening half on a 17-9 run to bring the deficit down to just six (42-36) at the break.
Alex Law, who entered the game having scored a season high six in the season opener, nailed three shots from long range to lead DU with nine in the first twenty minutes.
The No. 6 ranked Lady Panthers opened the second half on a 12-6 run to push the lead back into double-digits at 54-42 but back to back 3-pointers got the Racers to within six. The margin would hover between six and 12 for most of the half as
Alex Law continued to knock down shots from behind the arc as the freshman hit her fifth of the game with just over nine minutes to play to put the Panthers up 68-57.
After the Racers cut the lead back to just seven, DU went on a 12-3 run over the next 4:30 to go up by 16 at 80-64. The Panthers held their largest lead of 19 (88-69) after
Kayleigh VanKeulen connected on one of …three-pointers for DU in the game.

Davenport has won their first seven games of the season…The 92 points is the second most for Davenport this season as they reached 101 in an earlier win over Marygrove…DU has now won all five matchups with the Racers in their three-year series history…
