SOUTHFIELD, Mich. –  Alex Law scored 14 points, Karli Harris scored all 12 of her points in the first half and Tiesha Stokes added 10 as the sixth-ranked Davenport women's basketball team rolled past Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference newcomer Lawrence Tech 96-51 Saturday afternoon.

Alison Bouman paced the Panthers on the boards, collecting seven rebounds. She and the rest of the Panthers compiled a 43 shooting percentage, 37 percent from the arc. They also commited eight turnovers to set a season-low eight turnovers while forcing 16 steals.

The Lady Panthers made the first point right away and never looked back. Although Davenport only received two donation points from the free throw line, it made up for it by shooting 47 percent from the field. Harris paced the team with 12 points and was followed by Tiesha Stokes.

Stokes got the game started with two jumpers within the first minute of the contest. Kayla Gross would add back-to-back 3-pointers to give Davenport a 10-4 lead with 17:34 left. The Lady Panthers continued to find the basket and built a 20-point lead on Harris' field goal with 5:04 left. Davenport would score the final four points in the half to build a 49-25 lead.

Davenport would build its largest lead in the game at 3:33 mark in the second half when Staci Stadler's field goal put the Panthers ahead 90-45.

The Lady Panthers begin a four-game home stand for the rest of the month, starting next Saturday against WHAC foes Madonna at 1 p.m.

Post-Game Quotes – Head coach Mike Williams

Overall thoughts about the game: “I thought we had a lot of energy, a lot of energy for the whole game and there was about a five-minute stretch to start the second half we didn't have energy. We called a timeout, we addressed it and for the rest of the half we carried it over and just played. I thought we played with a great deal amount of energy for most of the game.”

On committing fewer turnovers: “I think part of it was their game plan. They really packed it in. They weren't going to let Ty (Tiesha Stokes) or Kendra (Cook) score. They weren't going to let us penetrate to the basket so they kind of made us move the ball around the perimeter and they made us 3-point shots, hence we probably took 35 of them but that's what they were giving us and we had to take it. It was a good game plan on their part.”

On what was said at halftime: “We talked about just playing with energy. Playing smart and playing with energy. We really didn't address anything specifically about basketball. We didn't drop anything crazy. We just told them to play with energy and play smart.
