GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Karli Harris scored 16 points and added 12 assists, but was one rebound and two steals shy from becoming the first Davenport women's basketball player to record a quadruple-double. But her stellar second-half performance with Kendra Cook and Tiesha Stokes helped the No. 3 Panthers get back into their winning ways with a 92-65 victory over Indiana Tech Saturday afternoon.

Cook scored 16 points in the second half to complete her career-high 23-point day. Stokes went 7-for-10 from the field for 14 points in the latter half, finishing the day with 20 points, six rebounds and assists each and four steals. Freshman Alex Law was unstoppable from beyond the arc, going a perfect 5-for-5 and closing out the afternoon with a season-best 16 points.

Davenport had a bit of a struggle trying to find the basket in the first half, shooting 42 percent from the field. Law went a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc to lead the team with 12 points at halftime. Stokes and Cook both had six points while Linnea Brandholm added five.

Indiana Tech (7-12, 5-6 WHAC) got the game started with a 4-0 lead before Stokes' layup and Law's first 3-pointer put the Panthers in the lead for the first time in the game at the 17:04 mark.

The Panthers were beginning to distant themselves from the Warriors when Harris' free throw followed by Law's third 3-pointer put the Panthers ahead 20-12 for the largest lead in the half.

The lead would disappear when Chelsea Carradine's jumper put the Warriors ahead 31-30 with 5:25 left. Both teams would go back-and-forth with the lead until Carradine and Richmond combined for five points to put the Warriors ahead 40-36.

Brandholm would get the Panthers back on track with a 3-pointer and a two-pointer following a steal she forced to put the Panthers ahead 41-40 at intermission.

The Panthers came out of the locker room in their old form. Stokes got the rhythm started using four consecutive layups to give the Panthers a 49-42 lead at the 18:36 mark. Both teams would find the basket in each possession until Davenport used a 14-0 run to put itself ahead 75-57 with 9:46 left.

Davenport closed out the second half with a better performance than the first, shooting 62 percent on the floor. Harris led the way with 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals.

With the first half of the WHAC season complete, Davenport will begin the second portion of the schedule on the road for the next two games, starting at Marygrove Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Panthers rolled past the Mustangs 101-49 in both the schools inaugural meeting and conference season opener in November.
Post-Game Quote – Assistant coach Karlee Despres

On the game – “The difference between the first and second half today was our intensity. In the first half we gave up a lot of easy, uncontested baskets, and got beat too often on fast breaks. In the second half we had some kids really step up and take some ownership and lead us on the court. Our big athletes finally took it inside in the second half, and Karli Harris created both offensively and defensively.”
