GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Kia Frazier scored a career-high 16 points, Tiesha Stokes had 11 points and 10 rebounds to record her second double-double of the season and Alex Law tallied 16 points and a career-best six rebounds, but the No. 2 Davenport women's basketball team was handed its first loss of the season to crosstown rival Cornerstone 83-76 in a back-and-forth battle Wednesday evening at the Golden Eagles' Mol Arena.

The Golden Eagles (4-3, 1-2 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) had no trouble finding the bucket, shooting 41 percent from the field while taking advantage of the charity stripe by scoring 24 points in 33 attempts. Davenport, meanwhile, was the opposite, shooting a season-low 36 percent in field goal range and going 16-for-27 on the free throw line.

Linnea Brandholm got the game started with a 3-pointer and a layup by Bouman put the Panthers ahead 5-2 within the first minute. But the lead would disappear as an 8-0 run put the Golden Eagles in front 10-6 at the 16:53 mark. The Golden Eagles were in the middle of the period, leading as many as 10 (24-20) with 12 minutes left.

The Panthers got back on track as Law and Frazier helped ignite a 14-0 run to give Davenport a 28-24 lead with 8:18 left.

Davenport managed to hold on to the lead until a Cornerstone momentum led by Kristina Cousins' twin sister Katelyn to a 38-37 lead at halftime. It also marked the first time the Cousins twins faced each other in college basketball.

Law led the way in the opening period with 11 points. While Stokes led the team with seven rebounds, six of them were offensively.

Both teams went back-and-forth with the lead in the second half until the Golden Eagles outscored the Panthers 17-10 within the final five minutes of the contest.

Frazier paced the Panthers in the latter half with eight points while Stokes and Bouman both went to the glass three times to lead the team in the rebounding department.

After playing the first six games of the season on the road, the Panthers finally open the DU Student Center Saturday, welcoming Lourdes for a 1 p.m. opening tip.

Post-Game Notes
Davenport loss to Cornerstone ends eight-game win streak over the Golden Eagles but still leads the all-time series 13-7
