The Davenport Report – 5-1, 1-1 WHAC
The Panthers, who are coming off an 83-76 loss at Cornerstone, suffered its first defeat since the NAIA Division II Tournament final last season. Davenport has not lost back-to-back games since Feb. 24-March 8, 2007, when it lost to Madonna in the WHAC Tournament championship game followed by to Morningside in the opening round of the national tournament.
Kia Frazier scored a career-high 16 points,
Tiesha Stokes had 11 points and 10 rebounds to record her second double-double of the season and
Alex Law tallied 16 points and a career-best six rebounds.
A Quick Look at Lourdes – 3-3, 1-1 WHAC – Head Coach Karen McConnell
The Gray Wolves, who are under new management with Karen McConnell taking the helm, got back to the .500 mark with a 64-55 home victory over UM-Dearborn in a rare Thursday night WHAC game. Lourdes took a huge 61-28 advantage in the rebounding department, with 22 brought down offensively. Tarynn Hampton and Tiffani Blackman both had double-doubles with a combination of 16 offensive rebounds. Hampton closed out her day with 14 points and 25 rebounds (10 offensively) while Blackman tallied 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The Panthers Success at Home
After playing six games on the road to start the season, teh Panthers finally open up the DU Student Center Saturday against Lourdes. Davenport has had great success on its home floor, going 76-4 overall, 10-1 in home openers. While going 76-4 since the DU Student Center opened in 2008, Davenport has won 21 straight games on its home floor. The last lost at home was to Madonna 71-64 on Feb. 8, 2012. The Panthers went a perfect 18-0 last season.
