Women's Basketball can Clinch a Share of WHAC Title With Win at Indiana Tech

Game Notes | Live Audio

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Coming off a key Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference victory Wednesday to move itself into a tie for first place in the standings, the No. 8 Davenport women's basketball team can clinch at least a share of the regular-season crown Saturday at Indiana Tech. Opening tip is at 1 p.m. and fans can hear the game live via Davenport Athletics Network (DAN) with Ken Clemens and Ed Keating on the microphones.

It was a night to remember for four Panther seniors Wednesday night against sixth-ranked Concordia. Karli Harris led the way with a career-high 25 points, while fellow seniors Kayla Gross, Emily Nielsen and Leah Sevcik combined for 41 of 70 points to beat the first-place Cardinals on their final home game of the regular-season.

The Panthers will move forward as their will look to close out the regular-season against a Warrior team who lost 69-56 to Cornerstone Wednesday. Indiana Tech's Rachael Kruse scored 17 points to become the only Warrior to reach double figures, but it wasn't enough as Cornerstone held on to a one-point lead at halftime to post a 69-56 win over the Warriors Wednesday. Kruse and Ulyssia Richmond both average just over 16 point a game to lead the Warriors.

Karli Harris scored 16 points and added 12 assists, but was one rebound and two steals shy from becoming the first Davenport women's basketball player to record a quadruple-double. But her stellar second-half performance with Kendra Cook and Tiesha Stokes helped the Panthers get back into their winning ways with a 92-65 victory over Indiana Tech in their last meeting at the Student Center back in January. Cook scored 16 points in the second half to complete her career-high 23-point day. Stokes went 7-for-10 from the field for 14 points in the latter half, finishing the day with 20 points, six rebounds and assists each and four steals. Freshman Alex Law was unstoppable from beyond the arc, going a perfect 5-for-5 and closing out the afternoon with a season-best 16 points.
