GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport picked up season win No. 25 today as they posted a 96-42 win over host Aquinas College. DU has defeated the Saints by a combined 113 points in the two meetings this year as they have now won 14 in a row over AQ. Davenport, 25-2 overall and 18-2 in league play, will host No. 7 Concordia on Wednesday. A DU win would tie the two atop the WHAC standings as tip is set for 6:00 p.m. at the DU Student Center.
Leah Sevcik led all scorers with a season high 17 points as the senior connected on 7-11 shots from the field including three triples. Fellow seniors Karli Harris (16) and Emily Nielsen (11) joined her in double figures as did freshman Tiesha Stokes who finished with 13 and a team high four rebounds. Harris and Linnea Brandholm combined for 10 assists.
Davenport jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead less than two minutes into the contest forcing the host Saints into a full timeout. Aquinas then responded with a 5-0 spurt and had the margin within five at 14-9 but Davenport controlled the rest of the half outscoring the Saints 29-11 the rest of the way. DU scored 13 of the last 15 highlighted by five from senior Karli Harris which included an acrobatic steal and 3-point play.
The run continued into the second half as the Lady Panthers used a 10-2 run over the first 2:30 to up their lead to 31 at 53-22. The final four points of that run came from Harris as Davenport held the Saints to just two points over the first nine minutes of the second half as they increased their lead to 40 at 64-24
Davenport finished 34-62 (54.8%) from the field while holding the Saints to just 36.9%. The Panthers were outrebounded 37-28 on the glass but forced AQ into 37 turnovers.
DU will look to regain the top spot in the WHAC on Wednesday, February 13 when they host No. 7 Concordia University at 6:00pm. The game features awareness for the Pink Zone for the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association).

On holding AQ to just 6 points over a 17 minute stretch – “I thought we spent some time defensively anticipating in help position and getting a little bit more pressure on the ball and we did a good job in carrying that over”
On win today preparing team for Wednesday's showdown with Concordia – “Probably nothing really…We will take a day off tomorrow and get back at it on Monday.”

Davenport has outscored its rival Aquinas by 113 points in the two meetings this season…DU defeated East Beltline foes Cornerstone and Aquinas in all four meetings this season by an average of 44.5 points…DU has now won at least 25 games in eight straight seasons
