SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Davenport women's basketball team picked up win number 16 in a row on Wednesday as they used two big runs in the opening half to post a convincing 84-58 victory over host Lawrence Tech. The win lifts Davenport to 21-1 on the season and 14-1 in league action. The second ranked Panthers return to the court on Saturday vs. Madonna at the Student Center at 1 p.m.
Ali Bouman poured in a career high 28 points and pulled down 15 rebounds and she was joined in double-figures by sophomore Tiesha Stokes who had 10 points as No. 2 Davenport posted an 84-58 road win at Lawrence Tech on Wednesday night. DU finished the night shooting 47.7% from the floor as they posted their fourth straight win over the Blue Devils.
Bouman got the scoring started for the second ranked Lady Panthers as the senior scored 13 points in the first 10 minutes of play as DU built an big lead. Much of Bouman's scoring came during a 26-0 run that covered just over five minutes of play. That run, along with another one of eight to start the contest, gave DU a 44-23 lead at the break. 10 different players scored during the opening 20 minutes for Davenport.
After Lawrence Tech used a 9-2 run to end the first half, Davenport quickly upped their lead back over 30 as they rattled off 13 of the first 15 points of the second half. Ali Bouman scored 10 straight during a 10-0 run for DU and the Panthers had their largest lead of the game at 59-25.
Every player on the Davenport bench was able to get some minutes including freshman Molly Babbs (seven points), Aleah Holcomb (two points) and sophomore Kimberly Weston (three points).
Davenport will return home on Saturday when they host Madonna University at 1 p.m. inside the Student Center. The game will be one of five remaining at home for DU.
Post-Game Notes
Davenport's 16-game winning streak matches the same number a year ago and is one away from tying the 17-game streak from 2011-12 which was the first year under head coach Mike Williams…The Panthers have a 3-game lead in the WHAC standings with seven games (5 at home) remaining in the regular season
